Happy Fall!

I hope your student talked with you about the Tuesday fire safety presentation from area fire fighters this week. Do you have a plan at home? Wednesday we had our hearing screening. If you didn’t receive a note, your student passed.

Math – We tested for our Unit 1 addition and subtraction today. Students who studied from their review tests, did very well. Final tests and grades will come home next week. Our next unit is multiplication. We will also start intensive small group instruction for those students who need extra help based on the last unit’s results.

Writing – Finalizing our personal narratives for sharing next week. Our spelling test results looked great for the majority of students this week (see your child’s test). Students should be practicing these words all week for long-term retention.

Reading – Beginning a new unit and a new read aloud, Tiger Rising –focusing on character development, empathy, and predictions.

Government – We started a new unit on why we need government, the 3 branches, and the powers.

I will not send home book order forms for October or November, because we will have our wonderful book fair here at school the week of November 6-10. Books are a great deal through the Fair. Hope you can stop by some day.
